These safety nail plates have a sharp pointed prong and are designed to hammer it into the front of the stud to protect wires or pipes that pass through the stud. There are also screw holes for attaching with peanut screws if desired.  These are full size 6' long, 16 gauge steel. The wires and pipes are then shielded from any screws or nails that may be applied to the area when installing the dry wall.  These meet NEC and NSPC.
